Recently Vulture Magazine caught up with Andrew Garfield, the new Spider-man in the upcoming reboot The Amazing Spider-Man. In the interview he talked about his love for the character, a small cameo of Donald Glover (one of the many stars of TV's Community), and even touched base on the success of the blockbuster hit The Avengers.
Have you seen The Avengers? If Sony would let you assemble, would you? After all, Spidey eventually becomes a member of the team in the comics ...
I saw it, and I was blown away. And I'm going to see it again this weekend. I have no problem adding to the amount of money it's making! [Laughs.] Joss Whedon is a genius, and it's an incredible cast. I was very, very jealous, and I wanted to jump on the screen and play with them. It killed me that I wasn't in it, but I understand why, and I'm not insulted. But hey, if Samuel L. Jackson wants to give me a shout, I'm there for the next one!
Personally I for one am all for the idea. I don't see any reason why Sony wouldn't go for it, maybe they should take a lesson from Universal Pictures on how they handled Marvel Studios involvement on The Incredible Hulk, it worked well for that movie, and it wouldn't hurt theirs, it may in fact elevate it. All things considered, The Avengers is now pulling in over $1 Billion dollars world wide and still counting, even if Sony rented out the character for a small %, any small % of over a Billion is a huge take home, Sony would have to be idiots to not consider the possibility.
