We've Been Here Forever

Written By Danny Nicolas

We've Been Here Forever is the latest full album from Again, For The Win, a rock band that continues the tradition of Texan musicians that can't stop writing excellent music.

The album represents a generation of growth both in songwriting and recording for the band. The lyrics are memorable, the music gets stuck in my head, and I've found myself singing a few lines over and over again as the songs have become not just what I reach for when I want to turn on some music, but something I can't wait to recommend again and again. We've Been Here Forever presents a more skilled, mature Again, For The Win to the world. In the closing song The Lines Above Our Heads Lead singer and songwriter Carter Francis sings, "Go where you want to be, I am where I need to be". Again, For The Win is where they need to be with this album: powerful rock and roll straight from the heart.

Standout songs include Breaking/Entering, Guns, Having Heard Sirens, Architects, Aspirations, and The Lines Above Our Heads. I realize this is half the album. The other half is excellent as well. The problem I ran into when writing this review initially is that while I immediately fell in love with two or three songs and had them in constant rotation, the rest of the songs creeped into my playlists, invaded mixtapes, and dominated the 'song stuck in my head' space. We've Been Here Forever is the best sort of album: one that brings you in and makes you a fan with just a few songs and when you keep listening you find yourself adding your name to their mailing list, staying after the shows to meet the band, and starting internet forums and fan sites where you and countless others analyze and debate the lyrics for new, unreleased songs played at the shows and bootlegged and heard around the world on youtube.

While the band is currently considering the many options musicians have today for releasing albums, the best way to hear the new songs is to see the band live.
