J.J. Abrams explains that Star Wars is all about the "Mystery Box"
Written By Taylor Landine
Now that it all seems to have been widely accepted, J.J. Abrams is directing Star Wars Episode VII, and from what we can tell, he was hand picked for this. However, it seems the biggest worry on everyone's mind is, how will he tackle the story? People who know Abrams' style know that its all about the mysteries, and whether or not he'll bring that love for mysteries to the universe George Lucas built is up in the air.
But thanks to the wonders of the internet, we have this clip from his 2007 Ted talk, posted on Reddit yesterday, that shows Abrams arguing that Star Wars was always about the "mystery box" because it can maintain the films suspense by naturally withholding key and vital information from the audience, I'm looking directly at you Darth Vader.

But what mystery is left in Star Wars? The hero's journey was completed and there was a prequel filling in the gaps and another hero's journey there too. Both fantastic stories. Is there anything more to do?
I have heard a lot of speculation that this will be "Star Wars - The Next Generation". Who knows.
But with Abrams at the helm, I am sure it will be good.

There's a ton of solid material just in the core characters (luke, leia, han ) such that they won't have trouble filling episode 7,8,9 - and there are enough side-stories in the extended universe that they could be making star wars films for the next 100 years. I'd love to see the han solo trilogy books get made into films.
