Hi, I’m Danny Nicolas. I live and work in Vancouver, Washington, USA with my wife Melissa and cat Callie.
As a QA Engineer at Fuel Medical, I help improve the Audiology software used by ENT practices around the country. I write automated tests, track down bugs, manage the regular code release process, and collaborate as part of the development team working on fixes, improvements, and new features.
Waking Ideas Collaborations
Since 2002, I have worked around the intersection of web development, design, and blogging. Waking Ideas is the home to my related notes, links, and projects.
I spent several years learning the ins and outs of the diamond pricing business as part of a family startup that developed an algorithm for determining market value for diamonds.
WakingIdeas.com was previously the location of my personal blog, a collaborative tech culture news commentary site, my photography business, and other fun projects. Sincerest apologies for all the broken links over the years.
I worked with USC Annenberg Norman Leer Center’s Media Impact Project, wrangling data and cloud servers while developing a data analytics dashboard solution for non-profits and their donors.
At online streaming independent film startup Yekra.com, I worked in both support engineer and junior developer roles while learning ruby and rails.
I helped make Max’s Diamond Price Guide as a family startup business with my father for a few years, which now lives on as Diamond Price Info.
As one of my first corporate desk jobs, I worked as first and second line technical customer support for a smaller domain name registry and web host.
